I went into this one completely blind and was not expecting what I got into! This is a unique reverse re-telling of the Little Mermaid, with some twists and turns.
I thought overall the book started strong, the authors did a fantastic job of world-building and character development. Especially with Skye, those first few chapters were heartbreaking and captivating, she was certainly put through a lot. I also really enjoyed the building of Caspian’s world; this is the first book I have read in this paranormal ‘mermaid’ genre, and it was interesting to learn about the Kai Kingdom and everything that comes along with it.
I did feel that the middle of the book lost a little bit of intrigue for me, I felt like there wasn’t enough happening with the plot and it was becoming a little bit repetitive. However, that ending more than made up for it, wow! It was action-packed and has left me interested to see where the story will go from here.
Overall, a good read by these two authors, and a great job on a unique re-telling!
